Is the oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeests trek for fresh grazing.
The precious stone in Ngorongoro round off is a deep, volcanic crater, the leading un flooded and unbroken caldera in the world. The crater lies from 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, and have the wonderful natural wonder.
Lake Manyara National Park extends over 330 kilometer square of the northern Rift Valley floor southwest of Arusha. Its centre piece is Lake Manyara, a fluctuating body of alkaline water set within a shallow sump at the base of the Rift Valley.
Mikumi National Park abuts the northern border of Africa's biggest game reserve - the Selous - and is transected by the surfaced road between Dar es Salaam and Iringa. It is thus the most accessible part of a 75,000 square kilometre (47,000 square mile)
Arusha National Park covers Mount Meru, a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4566 m, in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania.
The park is small but varied with spectacular landscapes in three distinct areas. In the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia River; the peak of Mount Meru lies on its rim. Ngurdoto Crater in the south-east is grassland. The shallow alkaline Momella Lakes in the north-east have varying algal colours and are known for their wading birds.
The park is noted for its large population of elephants, with about 10,000 roaming the park. More than 571 species of birds have been identified in the park. Among the resident species are Hornbills, Kingfishers, and Sunbirds. Many migratory birds visit the park, e.g., the White Stork.
Other noted animals in Ruaha are the African Wild Dog and the Sable Antelope. Rhinoceros were last sighted in 1982 and are most likely extinct in the park due to poaching.
It is the national park with herds of up to 300 elephants scrape the waterless river bed for alternative streams, while nomadic wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland mass the decrease lagoons. It is the most attentiveness of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators - and the one place in Tanzania where dry country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared Oryx and peculiar long necked gerenuk are regularly practical.

The third largest national park, it lies in the remote southwest of the country, within a truncated arm of the Rift Valley that terminates in the shallow, brooding expanse of Lake Rukwa.
An estimated 4,000 elephants might converge on the area, together with several herds of 1,000 plus buffalo, while an abundance of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck provide easy pickings for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose territories converge on the floodplains.
Saadani National Park covers 1100km square. It is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania bordering the sea. The climate is coastal, hot and humid. It offers a unique combination of both marine and mainland flora and fauna in a culturally fascinating setting. About 30 species of larger mammals are present as well as numerous reptiles and birds. Besides many species of fish, green turtles, humpback whales and dolphins occur in the ocean nearby
